The Generalitat Valenciana urges the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar (CHJ) to “immediately carry out an exhaustive audit of the human and technical resources available in the basin organization to prevent the risks of flooding and ensure the proper maintenance and conservation of hydraulic infrastructures”.
This is what sources from the Valencian government over which he presides tell EL ESPAÑOL. Carlos Mazon. The Executive demands “an exercise in total transparency on the part of the entity it presides over” Miguel Polo“.
The Generalitat considers that it is “all the less worrying and striking that certain information published in the media indicates that the CHJ has barely three guards for the very important tasks of maintenance and conservation of the various infrastructures that make up the canal Júcar-Turia, which has a length of approximately 60 kilometers.
“These are essential and key works for the correct and efficient supervision and adjustment of the basin’s infrastructure, and based on these data, the lack of human and technical resources that the Confederation records to carry out this type of tasks is clear, “say the sources consulted.
The Generalitat recalls that “it is the CHJ itself which recognizes the limited staff available to monitor and maintain this important infrastructure“.
“This is why a call for tenders was launched for a contract entitled “Works to support the maintenance and conservation works of the various infrastructures that make up the Júcar-Turia canal”, published on the Procurement Platform of the public sector, the amount of which amounts to 5.3 million euros”, they underline.
The same sources insist that the CHJ recognizes this scenario in the technical documentation of the aforementioned call for tenders. In particular, in the following statement: “given limited staff and resources available and, taking into account that, to carry out this technical service, it is essential to have external human resources with a competent technical and professional profile.”
“Lack of resources”
According to the Generalitat, the documentation also reflects “Lack of resources and personnel prevents the normal execution of the above-mentioned tasks. Therefore, to resolve the issues raised, it is considered necessary that maintenance and conservation services be entrusted outside, in order to maintain its operation.
In this context, the sources of the Generalitat demand “an exhaustive audit of the human and technical resources available to the CHJ in order to fulfill its objectives in the most effective way”.
They also demand “the urgent activation of all necessary and essential measures to carry out in the most efficient manner possible all these ordinary maintenance and conservation works, as well as immediate intervention operations before hypothetical emergency situations and risks that could arise. .
