The deputy mayor and citizen security advisor, Inés Canizares, praised the work of the canine units, “which have become essential and specialized teams to fight against drugs and protect people from this scourge, in particular schoolchildren and adolescents, without forgetting the transcendental role they have played in the safety tasks during Dana’s rescue. tragedy in Valencia and Castile-La Mancha.

Cañizares made these statements at the Town Hall, during the event in which recognition diplomas were given to 31 guides from different regions of Spain, who participated in Toledo, with their dogs, in a day of joint training for canine units of security forces and bodiesorganized by the local police of Toledo.

“Today, the steps taken by the different canine units were shared, in addition to the day dedicated to the rapprochement and twinning of these units, characterized by their passion and their vocation in the work they carry out,” explained the deputy mayor. .

On the other hand, Cañizares took the opportunity to show his opride in the work carried out by the Toledo Canine Unit, which was launched during the current legislature, “with very satisfactory results, demonstrating that our dogs and their guides are essential to guarantee security and prevent possible criminal behavior in our city. And a safer city is a freer city,” he added.

In this sense, he reported that, until October 31, in matters of citizen security, the Canine Unit of Toledo filed 19 drug chargesfour of which corresponded to minors in schools. One person was also arrested for crimes against public health, including heroin trafficking.

Thanks to the work of this team, there was also a detention for falsification of documents, in addition to having registered actions for serious disobedience to a minor, search of the address of identified persons (at the request of the court), alcoholic intervention on minors. or two reports made to the narcotics unit of the National Police.

In the area of ​​traffic and road safety, there were three administrative complaints for driving under the influence of drugs and another for driving with alcohol, among other series of actions involving people or vehicles endangering security.

The Toledo Canine Unit also played an important role in the entry and registration of a pharmacy in the Korea districtin collaboration with the Narcotics Group of the National Police, where cocaine, hashish and marijuana intended for sale, as well as utensils and money from drug trafficking were seized.

Finally, the Toledo dog guides, to whom Vice Mayor Cañizares thanked “for his work, his enthusiasm and his vocation to public service”, they planned interventions in collaboration with the management teams of the educational centers and participated, with the dogs, in therapies at the Apace center in Toledo, among other initiatives.
