The main supermarkets of the Valencian Community has launched an appeal for calm to ask its customers not to make unnecessary collection of products, particularly water, since the supply is completely guaranteed, despite the difficulties the region is going through after the rain storm which left at least 62 dead and dozens missing in the province of Valencia.
The Association of Supermarkets of the Valencian Community ASUCOVA, which includes Mercadona, Consum, Spar, Hiperber, MasyMas and Dialpris, as well as ASEDAS (Día, Lidl, Aldi) and ANGED (Carrefour, Alcampo, El Corte Inglés, Eroski and Costco ), published a press release in which they underlined the ““solidity” of the distribution structure food in the province of Valencia.
“The high efficiency of its logistics platforms guarantees consumers the supply of products, especially waterand that is why we call for calm and not to build up unnecessary stocks”, declared the director of ASUCOVA, Pedro Reig, who also recalled that Aguas de Valencia denied the cuts and this guaranteed the city’s drinking water supply.
FROM ASUCOVA, ASEDAS and ANGED intend to value the “effort” that the sector is making to recover the service in the affected areas and collaborate with the competent authorities, whom they thank for the work they are doing.
“We appreciate the efforts of the state security forces and agencies, emergency services, firefighters and health workers in providing assistance to the thousands of people affected by this natural disaster. Their delivery is exemplary,” say the supermarkets and hypermarkets.
At the same time, the Chamber of Commerce guaranteed the food distribution system and conveyed a message of “trust and tranquility” to consumers. However, he called for “responsible consumption which avoids the stockpiling of food and everyday products”.
The Chamber said the commercial distribution system “is capable of coping with extraordinary situations like the one caused by DANA.” “The distribution chains are working with the different logistics warehouses they have in Spain to guarantee supply and possible stock shortages that have occurred specifically in highly affected populations will be resolved immediately,” he stressed.
Likewise, the Chamber highlighted that the Valencian Community has “powerful supply chains and logistics networks that guarantee the supply of goods”. “In this situation, we appeal to consumers’ peace of mind and their confidence in the commercial distribution system,” he insisted.
Condolences from Consum and Mercadona
The supermarket consumptionthrough its social networks, transmitted a “message of tranquility” regarding the supply of bottled water in establishments in the province of Valencia and guaranteed that they had “sufficient stock” to supply the stores and that the sources were “at full capacity”.
“We are working to avoid a shortage of supply and the situation should become calm as access improves. Your collaboration is important to measure purchases and avoid excess inventory. Consume responsibly, avoid buying in excess and do not contribute to waste,” asked Consum.
The supermarket was “dismayed” by the consequences of DANA in the province of Valencia and offered its condolences to the families of the victims and its support for those affected. In addition, she made herself available to regional and local authorities “to provide support to those affected in the needs they may have in these difficult times”, while thanking the emergency teams for “their work and their dedication.
In the same spirit, the supermarket Mercadona offered its “condolences and solidarity” with those affected by DANA and said they were working “to restore service to affected areas and collaborate with authorities to help neighbors, suppliers and workers.”
