Palma sanctions Three Lions and Shamrock Café for noise

Palma town hall imposed a sanction of several weeks of closure of the premises Café des Trois Lions and Shamrock due to neighborhood complaints regarding noise produced during the night. This was indicated, through a statement, by the deputy mayor and advisor for the Natural Environment, Healthy Environments, Markets and Innovation, Llorenç Bauza, who assured this Monday that the current municipal team is trying to “put control where there was previously a lack of control”.

Referring to the legal proceedings brought by residents of the Palma promenade against the noise of certain premises, Bauzá highlighted that, since the beginning of the current mandate, the situation is “reversing” through a “an intense activity” of inspection and surveillance aimed at preventing and avoiding any violation of public orders.

In the specific case of the aforementioned nightclubs, he recalled that a three-week closure sanction was instituted for the Three Lions, currently in operation, reports Europa Press.

As for the Shamrock Café, a six-week closure order has been imposed and is temporarily suspended, pending resolution of the allegations presented by the owner.

In total, if we add the actions carried out in the two establishments, the Palma City Council has already processed, between the months of July and December of the previous year, more than a dozen minutes for non-compliance with orders, to which must be added the files opened during this year, which will be counted once their corresponding processing has been definitively completed.

Bauzá highlighted that different departments of Cort have developed a series of actions, in a coordinated manner, to resolve the noise pollution problems reported by residents, which, he stressed, is “unprecedented in both legislatures previous municipal elections”.

On the other hand, since the start of the legislature, the government team has favored “dialogue” and “collaboration” with residents and businessmen in the area.

This line of cooperation materialized in the creation of the Maritime Promenade Working Commission, where different municipal sectors are integrated, as well as other institutions with competences within the framework of this geographical point of the city, such as the Port Authority, as well as neighborhood authorities. associations and entities belonging to the business world.

According to Bauzá, the results provided by the work of the commission are “more than remarkable”, since they have contributed to its implementation to “unblock” and “rationalize” the problems and situations that affect well-being and quality of citizens’ lives, not only in terms of noise, but also from the point of view of security, mobility and cleanliness.

The commission, which meets every month, constituted the starting point for the application of different measures, among which it is worth highlighting the increased police presence on the seafront.

In this regard, to the ordinary services carried out by the Local Police of Palma, the presence of foot patrols from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and the day before public holidays. This measure was also put into practice in the Santa Catalina neighborhood.
