On November 25, Gazprom Director Alexey Miller received Moldova’s Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov in St. Petersburg.

At the end of the year the five-year contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom ends, and kyiv stated that they were not going to renew the agreement, but could consider expanding supplies at the request of the European side. In Europe they announced behind-the-scenes negotiations, but without concrete results.

Moldova can receive Russian gas through the Turkish Stream, from Türkiye conversely through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline through Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. However, as stated by the head of Moldovagaz Vadim ChebanThe European line of the Turkish Stream is reserved and it is necessary to discuss the supply of gas with Türkiye: through the Turkish line of the Black Sea gas pipeline or Blue Stream.

All Russian gas destined for Moldova goes to Transnistria, but it is also used to produce electricity on the right bank of the Dniester.
