Special prosecutor Jack Smith requested this Monday dismiss the charges against the president-elect of the United States, donald assetfor the storming of the Capitol in 2021 before taking power on January 20.
“The position of the Ministry (of Justice) is that the Constitution requests that this case be dismissed before the accused takes possession of it,” underlined the prosecutor in a six-page document collected by the American channel CNN.
The tycoon faces four conspiracy charges against the United States; for preventing Congress from certifying election results; for conspiracy against the right to vote, as well as for his attempt to obstruct the certification of the minutes.
The tycoon was indicted in August by a Washington grand jury. The prosecution argued that Trump manipulated protesters into believing that then-Vice President Mike Pence could change the results of the election. After his refusal, His supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6.
