At the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon called on the international community to support Afghanistan in preventing a humanitarian crisis caused, in particular, by natural disasters. Afghan media reported this today, September 25.
They point out that Tajikistan remains the only country in the region that does not have diplomatic relations with the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” (IEA, the name given to the country by the Taliban).*).
Recently, several international organizations have been trying to find funding for humanitarian assistance to Afghans before the winter. Rahmon also expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to work with Afghanistan to help rebuild and develop various sectors of the country.
“We support the establishment of lasting peace and stability, as well as the economic and social development of Afghanistan,” – said.
In his speech, he also touched on the Palestinian crisis, stressing that “there is no military solution to the issue.” According to him, the solution is to implement UN resolutions.
