With the Federal Congress, the PSOE, on the horizon, and, a little further away, the Regional Congress of Madrid, Juan Lobato does not want to enter into any conflict with the Sánchez government. This Wednesday, he joined the chorus of voices of the leaders of the Executive and the PSOE who held the Popular Party responsible for the withdrawal of the deficit path in the Congress of Deputies, because it did not have a sufficient majority to approve it.
Lobato did not reach the level of disqualification of other socialist leaders against Feijóo and the PP, but criticized their “irresponsibility” and “lack of seriousness” for not supporting the deficit path and leaving city councils and communities without hundreds of millions of euros.
“The PP is a government party and must be a serious party. You cannot have the hypocrisy of telling your communities and city councils one day that the State should give them more money and the next day voting against an instrument that allows mayors and regional presidents to have more possibility in their budgets to invest in education, health, infrastructure and public services,” Lobato denounced.
“So they have to agree whether they want more money or not, but both things in the same week are complicated,” insisted the spokesman for the Madrid socialists in the Madrid Assembly.
According to Lobato, the “PP decision” not to support the deficit path in the National Parliament means that Madrid’s municipalities will no longer receive 446 million euros. The city of Madrid alone would lose 304.8 million euros. The main victims of what Lobato calls the “PP decision” would be:
