The murder of a 15-year-old girl by her 17-year-old ex-partner brings to the table an undeniable reality that is reflected daily: scourge of gender-based violence in Spain. In the last 48 hours, two women were murdered by their partners, so there would be 42 women murdered in 2024 by their partners or ex-spouses.
In addition to the murders of María Celeste, 49 years old, in Estepa, and of Chloé, only 15 years old, in Orihuela, during the same period, other Three men attempted to murder their partners.
In Lugo, a man brutally stabbed his partner in her home; another in Vilalba beat and attacked his wife with a hammer; and in Algeciras another man beat his girlfriend, it was not enough and he snatched her baby from her arms and tried to take her away. All these attackers have already been arrested.
The last of these victims was only 15 years old. As LaSexta learned, the Civil Guard learned on Sunday at 9:10 p.m. of the death of the minor, injured by a stab, in the aforementioned hospital. At 11:30 p.m., another minor, apparently the victim’s ex-spouse, was arrested for an alleged offense of homicide. The girl had broken off the relationship with the alleged murderer a few days ago and no complaints of mistreatment have been filed before.
A man kills his wife in Estepa (Seville) then commits suicide
A 48-year-old man allegedly murdered his 46-year-old wife in the Sevillian town of Estepa, then He committed suicide with the same gun which he allegedly used in the crime. It all happened on Granada Street, around four in the morning. The couple, originally from Estepa, had two children, aged 11 and 17, as reported by Antonio Jesús Muñoz, mayor of the town.
If the sexist nature of these crimes is officially confirmed, the number of women murdered by their partner or ex-partner so far this year would rise to 42, including the murder of a woman on Sunday in Estepa which also the subject of an investigation by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence.
