Biden’s last ‘forgiveness’? US to give Kyiv $8 billion in aid

The United States plans to announce more than $8 billion in military aid to kyiv on Thursday during Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to Washington, Reuters reported today with reference to two U.S. officials.

According to sources, now the administration Joe Biden is in urgent talks with Congress to approve $5.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine before Sept. 30, the end of the federal fiscal year.

Another $2.4 billion in aid is planned through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative program, which allows the administration to buy weapons for kyiv from companies rather than taking them from U.S. arsenals.

The assistance will include ammunition, anti-drone weapons and materials to support munitions production in Ukraine, a U.S. official said.
