Pilar Victoriaplayer for the Puerto Rico senior volleyball team, was found dead this Thursday in her apartment in Turkey, where she played with the club. Nilüfer Belediyesporas confirmed by his mother on social media.
“Dear friends. I understand everyone’s interest in knowing the details of what we are experiencing as a family. I ask you all to give us space to assimilate “This moment that we had to live. We will let you know soon. May God bless you,” said Pilar López, Victoriá’s mother, on her Facebook account in a heartbreaking message that moved everyone.
Pilar Victoriadaughter of former athletes Pilar López and Luis Ernesto Victoriá, played with the sextet Criollas de Caguas in the Puerto Rico Women’s Volleyball League and was 28 years old. The situation came to light when officials from the Turkish club to which he belonged, worried about his absence, went to his home, at the clubhouse in Belediye Sporwhere they found the athlete’s body.
The causes of his death are still unknown, although the corresponding investigations have already begun to clarify what happened. His relatives are waiting for the results of the autopsy to have more details. “Pilar was not only an exceptional athlete, but also a role model for young people and a source of pride for our city,” Caguas Mayor William Miranda Torres said in a statement.
“His dedication and passion for volleyball “They transcended the field, being an inspiration to all of us, from his first steps at Notre Dame School to his international successes,” Miranda said of the athlete, whose death shocked Puerto Rico, which has mourned the loss of the athlete since the tragic news was known. Condolences come from Puerto Rico, but also from Turkey and the volleyball world in general, dismayed by the sudden death of a player who was only 28 years old and who had her whole life ahead of her.
