The Department of Education of the Government of Navarra has provisionally suspended a professor at the Superior Conservatory of Navarra, located in Pamplona, who made sexual propositions to a student via social networks. In addition, a disciplinary file will be opened against another teacher at the center, currently on leave, after having been reported to the management of the Conservatory by several students for having made sexist and sexist comments in class.
According to ‘Diario de Navarra’ and elDiario.es were able to confirm from sources in the Ministry of Education, the teacher was suspended as a precautionary measure after learning that the student had filed a complaint with the National Police in which she declared that the teacher contacted her via private messages on social networks in which he made “very explicit” sexual propositions to her. According to him, she did not respond and after a while, he made the same proposals again. Additionally, he assured that the relationship in the classroom changed once the teacher became aware of the complaint. Initially, the Conservatory opened a disciplinary case against him and he therefore continued to work at the center, but last Friday it was decided to suspend him as a precautionary measure.
“The director took the lead and applied all the protocols that exist in the event of a complaint of such seriousness,” underlines the Ministry of Education in a conversation with this newspaper.
At the same time, the Navarre Higher Conservatory of Music announced that it would open another disciplinary case against another teacher after several students reported to the center’s new management that he had made sexist and sexist comments in class. The Ministry emphasizes that the teacher is currently on leave but that upon his return, a file will be opened to investigate the reported events.
This Tuesday, students at this higher music center, where more than 300 people study, called for a sit-in in protest against these events.
