The President of Poland attracted Armenia to liberalize the visa regime with the EU

Polish President Andrzej Duda announced Poland’s readiness to promote Armenia’s integration with European structures at a joint press conference with the President of Armenia in Yerevan on November 26.

Looking ahead to the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will begin on January 1, 2025, Duda assured that his country will make “every possible effort to bring Armenia closer to the European family.” He declared his readiness to support the Armenian side in any matter if it shows interest.

In the speech special attention was paid to the issue of visa liberalization between the EU and Armenia. According to Duda, this issue will be discussed during the Polish presidency. However, he stressed that the final decision would require the approval of a majority of EU member states.

Duda highlighted the importance of Armenia as a strategic partner and noted that “the country’s rapprochement with the European family and politics contributes to the deepening of bilateral relations.”

The Polish leader especially highlighted the successes in financial cooperation, recalling the interaction project between Armenian and Polish financial exchanges, signed two years ago in Davos. In his words, this project is being developed successfully and brings satisfaction to both parties.

Duda also highlighted Poland’s interest in expanding economic relations with Armenia. He highlighted promising areas of cooperation in the field of new technologies, climate protection and green energy.

The visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union began in September 2024. To achieve this, Brussels requires significant reforms in key areas. Conditions include the security of travel documents, border control, migration and asylum, the fight against corruption and respect for fundamental rights related to freedom of movement.
