The head of the EU’s diplomatic service, Josep Borrell, considers the thesis that allowing Western weapons to attack Russian territory makes the European Union a party to the conflict to be “ridiculous.” He said this on his arrival at the meeting of EU defence ministers.
“I think it is ridiculous to say that allowing attacks inside Russian territory means we are entering into a war with Russia. We are not at war with Russia, it is funny to talk about it, we are just helping Ukraine.” – Borrell said, stressing that “no EU country wants to fight with Russia,” TASS reports.
“My personal opinion is that there should be no restrictions.” – he said, recalling that on August 29, the heads of the EU Foreign Ministry were unable to reach a consensus on this issue and now each of the 27 EU countries will decide for itself how and to what extent it will allow the use of weapons supplied to kyiv.
