One year in prison for Saül Gordillo for sexual assault on a publisher

A one year in prison for Saul Gordillo for sexual assault on an editor-in-chief, while the journalist was running an online newspaper. The judge also imposes two years of supervised release on the former director of Catalunya Ràdio for events that occurred after the staff’s corporate dinner, in December 2022, when the celebration was moved to a Barcelona nightclub, the Apolo Room. There, according to the judgment of the 7th Criminal Court of the city of Gordillo, from dawn, “with the aim of satisfying their sexual desire and infringing on sexual freedom“from the victim, he approached her in a “furtive” manner so that “she could not see how his right hand surreptitiously went down her back”, “he grabbed her buttocks and moved his hand looking for her vagina, without being able to reach it.” directly because the clothes she was wearing prevented her from doing so, while she held her glass with her left hand.

The judgment, which is being appealed, emphasizes that at that moment, while the editor was ordering a drink at the bar, “he approached her again from behind and with his left hand under her leg of his shorts.” he reached her vagina and placed his fingers between her stockings and shorts, intending to masturbate her. After what happened, the judge underlines, the journalist “continued at the bar, in a clear cognitive dissociation“. Then he went with Gordillo to one of the dance floors and, a few minutes later, “he reacted and when he met other colleagues, he assumed what had happened, with a clear state of nervousness, anxiety and confusion” and explained to them what he had experienced.

The next day, the complainant went to a health center with symptoms of anxiety and was prescribed an anxiolytic. He returned 24 hours later and they released him, “due to the psychological impact of what happened.” As the sentence considers proven, the publisher “suffered post-traumatic stress disorderpresenting anxiety, emotional overwhelm, acute sadness, intrusive and circular thoughts, difficulty sleeping, hunger disorders and irritability, with feelings of guilt and shame”, for which he received medical treatment.

After this conviction, Gordillo still has a second trial pending, for which the FThe prosecution asks for four years in prisonfor an alleged sexual assault on another editor the same evening.
