The City Council of Méntrida (Toledo) has announced the celebration of the XXIII edition of the Wine Festivalan annual event that promises to captivate residents and visitors alike with a weekend packed with activities centered around the rich wine tradition.

He August 30 and 31 and September 1the city will transform into an epicenter of culture, gastronomy and entertainment, welcoming wine lovers, culture enthusiasts and the curious alike. This edition of the Wine Festival is much more than just an event, it is an invitation to discover the very essence of Méntrida through its most iconic product, wine. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a series of unique wine experiences ranging from winemaker-led tastings to participatory activities that capture the authenticity of the vintage.

The main event on August 31 will feature the presence of the rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Julián Garde, as a speaker, a palpable example of the university’s “firm commitment to the viticulture of our land, supporting our designations of origin” and promoting the training of future experts through the Oenology degree.

One of the highlights of the Wine Festival will be the guided tastings which will allow participants to discover the flavors, aromas and nuances that each glass has to offer. Expert winemakers will share their knowledge while participants immerse themselves in a sensory experience highlighting the diversity of Méntrida DOP wines.

In addition, during the main event, tastings of wines from wineries associated with the Méntrida DOP will be possible. In this edition 15 wineries and cooperatives from the region are participating. These wineries combine winemaking tradition with modern techniques to create wines that capture the identity of the terroir. The characteristics of the region’s soils and climate, as well as the dedication of the winemakers and viticulturists, come together to create wines with a unique personality.

Honoring tradition and heritage

A fundamental element of the Wine Festival is the connection with the historical roots of Méntrida. The blessing of the must and the traditional treading of the grapes by the Danzantes de Méntrida are moments that pay tribute to the importance of wine in the life and past of the town. Guided tours of the Cuevas del Castillejo Museum will allow participants to discover the places where the wine has aged over the years, offering a unique insight into its evolution.

The Méntrida City Council invites people of all ages and levels of wine knowledge to participate in the 23rd edition of the Wine Festival. It is an opportunity to discover the authentic wine culture of the municipality in an event that promises to delight, educate and enrich.
