The economic problems of Barcelona forced the club to force the clubs that make up the entertainment stand of Montjuic to pay the fines imposed on the club last season. These amount in total to 21,000 euros, due to the behavior of their supporters during matches played at the Olympic Stadium, who sometimes uttered offensive chants against the rival and used flares. Additionally, they warn that they will close this area of the field during a match if this happens again.
The sanctions that Barça imposed last year for the behavior of its supporters are 21,000 euros. It must be added to this that this season, the club has already been sanctioned by UEFA to the tune of an additional 10,000 euros and the ban on selling home tickets in the Champions League for a banner with Nazi symbols displayed by a supporter in Monaco.
This measure comes after the stands repeatedly chanted against the directive. “Barça yes, Laporta no” has become a recurring song in the stands of Montjuic and, now, the president is wreaking havoc on those around him 600 members which compose it, requiring payment corresponding to the multiple files opened by League, UEFA And Generality.
The clubs from which Barcelona is demanding payment of the 21,000 euros are Almogavers, Front 532, Nostra Ensenya And Barça fans. Together, they have between 500 and 600 members, spread out in one of the backs of the Montjuic stadium. These sectors have been singled out by the various organizations for their behavior and the chants they push, which led them to sanction the club.
But unlike other clubs who pay the corresponding fines, Barcelona has decided to demand payment. All this after showing their position contrary to Laporta’s directive. Furthermore, the culé entity warned that, in the event that similar incidents occur again, the entertainment stands will be closed during a match.
Barça threatens its stands
The way the club informed these clubs of the payment was by letter. Barcelona had already warned several times that they could demand payment of these fines, until they finally decided to do so. Each group must pay in proportion to the number of its members and has 15 days to pay the penalty. In the event that they claim not to have the capacity to pay or directly refuse to do so, the culé entity must evaluate the measures it takes against these four aforementioned groups.
All eyes now turn to next weekend’s derby. This Sunday, November 3, Barcelona welcomes Espanyol to Montjuic. The club’s main concern is to demonstrate civility and not be denounced again for offensive chants from its stands. Something that does not happen outside the stadium, where confrontations between the most radical supporters against the Mossos have been frequent.
