JAKARTA – Member of the DPR II commission, Mardani Ali Sery, argued that a revision of the legislation on elections (law) should be immediately carried out after the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) in relation to the division between national and local elections. It is known that the Constitutional Court decided that the elections took place two years after the presidential election.

According to him, the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the separation of national and local elections was only the accumulation of problems that were supposed to be revised in accordance with the election legislation. He said that MK previously also decided a number of cases that questioned the clause in the election law.

“This is necessarily, be sure to immediately review (election law). In fact, this is only an accumulation to the fact that the threshold president was removed, the threshold parliament was removed, ”Mardani said when he contacted on Thursday (06/26/2025).

“All decisions of my constitutional court call it very progressive. This is my MK language, we were told to work, so my friends. In any case, let’s move forward immediately, ”he added.

He also argued that he supports the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the separation of national and local elections. He examined that local elections often sank when the elections were held at the same time.

“Often, when local elections with national elections are united, for example, in the district, a city, a provincial DPRD, in combination with the presidential election, the elections are shaken by the presidential election,” Mardani said.
