The PP creates a Commission of Inquiry into the management of DANA in the Senate

The Popular Parliamentary Group asked the Senate for the creation of a commission of inquiry on the circumstances which “influenced the catastrophe suffered following the DANA of October 29”. As well as “the management ensured by the various administrations concerned”. The PP, which benefits from an absolute majority in the Upper House, emphasizes that “the political responsibilities” of the different actors must be analyzed and “study recovery plans for affected areas and improvements in disaster prevention”, so that this does not happen again.

Among the goals of the people are: “To clarify all circumstances, assume responsibility and implement all necessary measures to mitigate the damage and influence preparedness “so that a disaster like this never happens again.” Likewise, PP sources in the Senate assure that the priority of the commission is to take care of the essential, namely the people affected and the enormous material damage caused. And for this, “accountability and taking responsibility are essential”.

Also, the popular initiative highlights the need to “know why previous experience in this type of situation and the applicable protocols, which had operated until Tuesday October 29, were not enough to prevent or mitigate the terrible damage suffered. Spaniards demand to know the truth about what happened, is the opinion of the main opposition party.

From the PP, they emphasize that the Emergencies of the Valencian Community, dependent on the Generalitat of the “popular” Carlos Mazón, issued in the hours preceding the disaster of last October 29 “a total of 24 notices to the population” by different means and “with information on the situation and recommendations. For more details on opinions and internal organization, it is specified—in the document presented— Ora chronology of events and notifications that the Generalitat has received from government institutions. Thus, we know that the first warning issued by the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar arrives by email to the Emergency Coordination Center at 11:06 a.m. In this message, according to the report prepared by the PP, the Confederation warns of a “flood which occurs very quickly in the course of the Poyo ravine”.

The announcement of the commission took place on the same day that the Compromís and Sumar formations reached an agreement with Podemos, ERC and Junts to also request a commission with the same purpose from the Congress of Deputies, to purify political responsibilities for temporary management.
