The launch of a hypersonic missile against the city of Dnepr is an escalation of war and a warning to Europe, the United States and the world, says Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk.

The diplomat warned the day before that the launch of a Russian hypersonic missile against the Ukrainian city of Dnepr is not only a serious escalation of the war, but also a global warning. He said the Hazel model rocket was launched from a Russian military base near the Caspian Sea and reached central Ukraine at Mach 11 in just a few minutes.
“The damage caused was limited. But Russia’s main goal was to intimidate Ukraine and the world, sending a clear message to Europe and the United States,” Korniychuk said.
According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this was a response to the decision by the United States and Britain to allow Ukraine to launch missiles deep into Russia. Putin warned that there would be more hypersonic missile launches and the US government warned kyiv about such an attack.
The ambassador added that the Ukrainian government now needs urgent talks with NATO leaders and US representatives to increase the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine.
According to him, since the beginning of the war, Russia has launched more than 12 thousand missiles of various types, but this was the first launch of a hypersonic missile. The pieces of the missile collected at the impact site were sent for examination by Ukrainian experts.
Korniychuk also noted Iran’s growing involvement in the war. According to him, the production of Shahed missiles on Russian territory and their shipment to Ukraine highlight the Iranian threat, which is not limited only to the Middle East. “The Iranian threat to Ukraine is similar to the threat to Israel,” he warned.
Additionally, the ambassador said that North Korean fighters were seen in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where they operate alongside Russian military forces in the fight against Ukraine, including on Russian territory.
