Khalil, born in 1992 in Agjabadi district, killed his brother’s wife, Saida (names withheld – ed.) during an argument.
According to information obtained by Telegraf.com, Khalil’s brother was convinced that his wife Saida was having a love affair with Jamal, a townsman who lived in the neighborhood.
After that, he decided to kill Saida. On May 2, 2024, at around 2:00 p.m., he arrived from Baku to his father’s house in the village of Agjabedi district, where Saida lived at the time. He attacked Saida, who was alone in the bedroom, grabbed her hair with one hand and stabbed her several times in the neck with a knife with the other. The woman died from her injuries.
The investigative body announced an indictment against Khalil under article 120.1 (intentional murder) of the Penal Code.
Khalil, who testified as a defendant in a criminal case, pleaded guilty to the charge announced to him. He stated in his testimony that his brother Seymur lived with his wife Saida and their children in the village of Aghdam district: “I lived in the Gala settlement of Baku with my mother, my wife and my little daughter.
In March 2024, I listened to voice messages sent by my brother Seymour to my mother while looking at the messages on the “Whatsapp” mobile application on my mother’s mobile phone in Baku. The messages were sent by a woman and Seymour directed those voicemails to my mother.
The woman claimed that my brother’s wife destroyed his sister’s family, why did he keep the woman in his house, she said he has no pride or masculinity.
I called my brother and asked him who the woman who sent the voice was and if what she said in the message was true. Seymur said the message was sent by Jamal’s sister-in-law, who lives next door to the village, and in March, Jamal’s wife came to his house and argued with Saida, saying that her husband Jamal was in a relationship with Saida and that she she did not leave her husband.
The defendant noted that a dispute subsequently arose between his brother Seymur and Saida:
“When Seymour asked Saida about this, she said that what Jamal’s wife had said was slander. Seymour argued and took his wife to his father’s house in the village of Agjabadi district and told her that they were getting a divorce. The children stayed at Seymour’s house.
Saida stayed at her father’s house for a few days. However, after some time, Seymur reconciled with his wife on Ali’s advice and Saida returned home. I spoke to Saida on the phone and told her that I would investigate the matter and that if what she said was true I would kill her by cutting off her head. Saida again stated that she has no relationship with Jamal.
According to Khalil’s statement, 3 or 4 days before the incident, he spoke to his brother Seymour on the phone and Seymour, crying, told him that he heard his wife Saida talking to Jamal on the phone. Saida wrote Jamal’s name as “Gunay 4” on her mobile phone and admitted that she had a romantic relationship with him: “My brother said that Saida returned to their father’s house and that they should divorce him.
After being completely convinced that my brother’s wife was having an intimate relationship with Jamal, I decided to kill her for embarrassing our family.
I went to the village of Aghjabedi region and bought a knife at the “Evkur” shopping center located in the Gala settlement on the afternoon of May 1 to kill Saida, who was staying at her father’s house. On May 2, around 8, I left home, went to the bus station and left for the village of Agjabedi region.
I got out of the taxi near Saida’s father’s house. When he entered the yard, no one was there. I opened the door of the house and looked at the rooms. I saw Saida in the bedroom. I pulled the knife from under my belt. As soon as Saida saw me, she got up and tried to run to the window. I attacked him, grabbed him by the hair with my left hand and hit him with a knife several times on both the right and left sides of his throat. Saida fell to the floor and started snoring.
Khalil noted that he then left the room: “I ran into Khanim, Sayida’s sister. When she saw the knife in my hand, she started screaming and ran into the other room. I left the house, and when I was on the road, I saw I took a taxi and asked him to take me to the Aghdam district police department.
On the way I called my cousin Teymur and told him that I had killed Saida and that I was going to the police station. After speaking with Teymur, I called Seymour and told him the news.
I then called the Ministry of Interior’s “102” service call center from the mobile number I was using and reported that my brother had killed his wife Saida. “I handed over to the police the knife I used to kill Saidi.”
According to Seymour, who testified as a witness in the case, he married Saida in 2012 and lived with their two children in the village of Agdam district:
“In March 2024, when we were at home with my wife Saida and our children, Sudaba, the wife of our colleague Jamal, came to visit us. She told Saida that she had an intimate relationship with her husband Jamal and demanded that she give up her husband. She told me that she caught my wife along with her husband. She said that the man if so, his wife will not sleep with my husband. She said that it was slander and there was no relationship between Jamalla.
According to Seymour, on April 23 at around 2 p.m., when he went to the room where Saida was sleeping, he saw a call on his mobile phone, the phone was on silent mode:
“The caller’s name was marked “Gunay 4” on the phone. The number belonged to our neighbor Jamal. I saw Saida receive 3 calls from the number marked “Gunay 4.” I asked him what he was doing and why he did it. Jamal called, and what her relationship was with Jamal. Saida responded that she didn’t write Jamal’s number on the phone, she normally wrote her name on the phone. I don’t know, that’s how our daughter wrote it. I slapped her, I started to. argue with Sa’ida and she went to her father’s house.”
Seymour noted that on April 24, Saida’s father brought the children from his house to go to school:
“I informed Saida that I would file for divorce in court. Some time later, my brother Khalil called and asked me what had happened. I told him everything as it happened. Khalil told me not to worry, advised me to get a divorce and will keep the children with me On April 29 Together with my mother, I went to the Agdam District Court and filed a divorce petition with Saida.
On May 2, at 2:30 p.m., his cousin Teymur called and said that Khalil was in the Guzanli settlement in Aghdam district and had returned home. A few minutes later, Saida’s father called and informed her that Khalil had killed his daughter.
After that, Khalil called and told her to keep her head up and take good care of the children. He asked me to go to the village, he said he had killed Saida and that he would find me and leave. When I got home, I saw that Khalil had blood stains on his hands and a black knife on his back.
According to Jamal, who testified as a witness, he lives with his wife in the village of Aghdam region: “I also work as a taxi driver. I took Saida to various places as a taxi driver. However, there was no love or anything else.” relationship between us.”
However, Jamal’s statement given at the preliminary investigation and examined at the judicial investigation showed that he had an intimate relationship with Saida.
This criminal case was heard in the Lankaran Serious Crimes Court. According to the court’s verdict, Khalil was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison. It was determined that he will serve his sentence in a strict regime penitentiary center.
