German car industry unable to sell new cars – Bild – EADaily, November 26, 2024 – Economic news, European news

Around six thousand unsold new vehicles have accumulated at the CAT Automobillogistik logistics center in Essen. This is reported by the newspaper Bild.

German car manufacturers are facing a full-scale crisis: no one buys new cars, writes the telegram channel “Bild in Russian”*. Around 6,000 new cars, including expensive Volkswagen and Audi models, as well as electric cars, worth at least 300 million euros, have been accumulated at the CAT Automobillogistik logistics center in Essen. The cars last more than six months and, in some cases, even more than a year, according to employees.

“I have never encountered anything like this before, even though I have been working here for more than ten years. The cars are only delivered, but almost no one takes them.” — one of the workers told Bild.

According to him, the cause of the crisis is high car prices and problems with infrastructure for electric vehicles.

“People are not willing to pay that kind of money for an electric car, and the development of charging stations and limited travel range are scaring off buyers,” says an employee at a logistics company.

Experts confirm that demand for new cars in Germany continues to decline.

Low sales are having a negative impact on automakers. Companies like Ford are forced to implement shorter hours and lay off employees. However, a drop in demand can benefit buyers as manufacturers begin to offer deep discounts to sell unsold products.

Until the end of the year, car manufacturers will try to improve sales figures, which will lead to even bigger discounts, the car expert believes. Frank Schwope. However, despite this, the crisis continues to deepen and it is increasingly difficult to find long-term solutions to the drop in demand, he points out.
