The water level in the Caspian Sea near Makhachkala has dropped below a dangerous level

The water level in the Caspian Sea near Makhachkala has reached a level below the dangerous level, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Dagestan reported.

As reported by the department, during the day and night of November 25, as well as during the night and morning of November 26, low water levels were observed: 1-6 cm below -104 cm.

The General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Dagestan announced an emergency warning.

There is a possibility of emergencies associated mainly with the interruption of navigation. The Ministry of Emergency Situations foresees that the scale of possible incidents will not exceed the municipal level.

Due to the dangerous situation, local authorities are recommended to take a series of preventive measures. These include: transfer of the RSChS management bodies to high alert mode, round-the-clock service of responsible persons, information to the population about security measures, as well as verification and adjustment of plans for prevention and emergency elimination. Particular attention is paid to monitoring the hydrological situation, the availability of the warning system and the possibility of adapting sea routes.
