The team of professionals of Reina Sofia University Hospital was achieved in the first half of the year 163 organ transplants (52 kidneys, 40 livers -5 children-, 12 hearts -3 children-, 58 lungs and one pancreas). This figure represents an increase of 18% (25 more transplants) compared to the same period of 2023when 138 interventions were carried out.
In addition to organs, tissues must be added, and in particular, 59 corneal transplants and 38 bone marrow transplants were carried out from January to June 2024.
The transplant coordinator at the hospital, Juan Carlos Robles, He thanked the families for their generosity that “with their yes to donation have made it possible to carry out the transplants and, therefore, improve and save lives.” From the balance sheet of this first semester, it is clear that more transplants have been carried out in most of the organ and tissue programs of the center of Córdoba.

These data represent an increase of 6.38% (36 additional interventions) compared to the same period of 2023, when 564 organ transplants were performed in Andalusian centers.
This activity was possible thanks to the solidarity of the 246 organ donors registered in Andalusia from January to June of the current year (125 in asystole).
