Negotiations between Putin and Tokayev on Wednesday will be held in a closed and expanded format, an aide to the Russian president said. They plan to talk about the future development of bilateral relations in various areas. The parties will maintain a deep exchange of opinions and almost the entire leadership of the Russian government will be represented in the negotiations, Ushakov said.

On Wednesday, in addition to the high-level talks, Putin and Tokayev will address the participants in the plenary session of the XX Forum on Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, to be held in Ufa, by videoconference. Also on that day, the leaders will participate in the opening ceremony of a branch of the University of Kazakhstan in Omsk.
On Thursday, Putin will participate in the next session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will be chaired by Tokayev in Astana. Kazakhstan chairs the CSTO this year.
Delegations of participating countries will summarize the results of interaction in the CSTO this year and determine the main directions for further improvement of the collective security system. Session participants will also discuss current regional and international security issues. After the meeting, the leaders of the CSTO countries will sign a number of documents, including a joint declaration in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Ushakov said that at this meeting the leaders will discuss the tasks of forming a new equal and indivisible security architecture in Eurasia. According to him, the CSTO can become a key element of the new security architecture in Eurasia, although its activities are of a purely defensive nature.
