The municipal council of Estella Lizarra launched an initiative for citizens to participate in choosing the name of the new athletics track, located Oncineda.
Voting is available on the official website of the municipal council and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. December 3.
Each person will only be able to vote once, thus helping to give an identity to the installations which are the result of a project eagerly awaited by athletics enthusiasts in the region of Land of Estella.
There are five proposals to name the track, all previously selected by the city’s schools. The options are: The fleeting star, Ega Vent, Atlelizarra, Atlizarra And Ega Lizarra.
These installations, inaugurated last June, required an investment of 1.2 million eurosincluding an increase of 140,000 euros to obtain the necessary federal approval.
The project, carried out by the construction company Daresincluded earthworks of 25,000 cubic metersa complex task as the municipal architect explains Elena Martinez Litago. Despite some delays caused by spring rains, the work was described as a technical success by the Councilor Carlos Rubio and the site manager Eugene School.
The athletics track has 250 meters and four streetsa straight line 100 meters for hurdles and specific spaces for various disciplines such as high jump, pole vault and shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. In addition, it has an annex building which will serve as a warehouse and space for bodybuilding work.
