Our countries are preparing to celebrate with dignity the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, wrote about this in his article “Kazakhstan and Russia: new horizons of strategic partnership”, published in the Izvestia newspaper on the eve of the state visit of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, to Astana.
“In the 20th century, our people together passed a severe test, defeating fascism during the most terrible war in the history of humanity. The Kazakhs fought selflessly at the front. Kazakhstan has become a reliable strategic rear, providing the army with the necessary military products and food. Hundreds of thousands of families found refuge on Kazakh soil during the evacuation. The words “No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten” for the people of Kazakhstan is not just a beautiful slogan, but a broad reflection of the eternal national memory of the incomparable feats of the participants in the war and the internal workers. – writes the Kazakh leader.
According to him, an attentive attitude towards common history runs like a red thread in cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.
