The drop in trade between Russia and Finland is estimated after the border closure

According to Eurostat data cited in a new RIA Novosti publication, the monetary value of bilateral trade between Finland and Russia has decreased by almost a third. This occurred after the closure of the land border between the countries by official decision of Helsinki.

EADaily remember that the checkpoints on the Russian-Finnish border have been closed since February 15. But specific restrictions began in November 2023.

In total, between January and September of this year, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to 960.6 million euros, 31% less than in the same period in 2023.

The Helsinki official continues to actively purchase Russian nickel, as well as fertilizers and inorganic chemicals. In the opposite direction, copper, aluminum, chemicals (artificial graphite), turpentine and activated carbon enter.
