The businessman Claudio Rivasin temporary prison for the so-called oil plot, the judge asked Santiago Pedraz be released.
He did it several days ago, after his partner Victor de Aldama voluntarily testify in another legal matter, also charged National courtthe so-called Koldo affair.
Aldama, after appearing before the judge Ishmael Morenohe was released at the request of the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
Despite Rivas’ efforts to make Aldama’s statement benefit him as well, the judge investigating the oil plot, Santiago Pedraz, denied him his freedom.
He did it in harmony with Fight against corruption. The Prosecutor’s Office, in a report, said that Aldama has been open to collaborating with justice, while Rivas continues to deny the facts attributed to him, despite the evidence against him.
As Anticorrupción explains, unlike Aldama, “Claudio Rivas Ruiz-Capillas persists in his attitude of denying” the facts which are attributed to him.
In the case of the oil conspiracy, Pedraz is investigating a network of hydrocarbon companies which allegedly defrauded more than 182 million euros in VAT.
Rivas would be the leader of this network. The Prosecutor’s Office believes this and expresses it in the report in which it opposes the freedom of the businessman: “There are indications which corroborate not only his participation in these operations, but also his directing role in their execution, being the main beneficiary of the fraud committed. “.
