“For now, it’s like this”

The first vice-president of the government, María Jesús Montero, indicated this Friday that the agreement between the PSC and the ERC because the single financing of Catalonia is limited for the moment to the transfer of the collection of income tax to the community. “At the moment it’s like this,” he said.

In statements in Cádiz, he stressed that the objective is to increase transfers of other taxes “from gradually over the years“. She nevertheless stressed that “anything that does not appear in the agreement is neither agreed nor decided” when asked if the agreement between the CPS and the ERC would involve the transfer 100% of taxes to Catalonia.

María Jesús Montero stressed that this agreement “indicates very clearly what is the self-governing vocation of certain political parties” and “what is said is that, of course,progressive form, over the yearsover time, the vocation consists precisely of collecting the large part of the taxes that are collected in Catalonia”, continued the minister, who emphasized that “currently, what exists is the personal income tax physical, which is what appears in the agreement.

“And anything that doesn’t appear in the agreement is not agreed or decided, and will have to comply with the rules that we put in place when we finish developing and specify all the extremes which are envisaged therein”added María Jesús Montero. Then he added that what can be read in the agreement speaks “literally a date for what personal income tax means”, and “a vocation which, over the years, arouses an expectation” of transferring all taxes to Catalonia.

Asked if they have not yet decided how much taxes will be transferred, the minister replied “no” and explained that “what is decided is what is provided for in the agreement.” Along the way, he said that “a lot of people here are constantly asking for the deal to be explained,” but “The agreement is explained by reading it, and the agreement says it all”.

Montero stressed that “of course this agreement must be developed with standards and laws that “They will go down to different levels”and after emphasizing that “it has barely been a month” since its signing, he added that “this debate will have to be supported”. “We will have a lot to discuss, a lot to agree on,” he said.
