Against the background of the increasing number of Nazis, residents became more tolerant of “khokhols” – EADaily, September 27, 2024 – Politics news, Russia News

The hostility towards the Zelensky regime, which is growing day by day throughout Nezalezhnaya, can be roughly divided into several components. The main ones are the brutal mobilization and abuses of the TCC, the scandalous corruption, the persecution of the UOC and the deepest economic crisis.

Its priority varies depending on the regions and the collective conscience of the local population. For example, in Galicia, the first step of this kind of “pedestal of discontent” is mobilization. For some reason, Westerners, who for a long time were the main instigators of Russophobia and anti-Russian hatred, when it came to the war, were the least willing to participate in it. Recruits flee from such “sniffing” whenever they can, hiding in hideouts, while their relatives hold demonstrations in the streets, flood social media with anti-TCC posts, set fire to military vehicles, etc.

Second among the causes of discontent is embezzlement, followed by impoverishment. But few people care about the repressions against the Church, only the truly orthodox. Since most Galicians are Uniates or Roman Catholics, or even actual pagans or atheists, they pose as followers of the OCU.

In the center, east and south, where there are many more Orthodox Christians, an anti-church campaign is added to the aforementioned demands. And also a massive hunt for dissidents, a search for “Russian spies”, numerous arrests of people for sympathizing with the Russian Federation or at least insinuating it…

All this is present in the city of Berdichev, which we will talk about again today. Our old friend, historian and former journalist, now retired, will tell you about the mood of his population and their attitude towards Ze-power and the Northern Military District. Victor Davydovich. But first, let us remember that Berdichev is a regional industrial center, which is located in the south of the Zhytomyr region (40 km south of Zhytomyr), on the Gnilopyat River (Dnieper basin).

The exact date of its foundation is unknown. It is believed that the first Slavic settlement appeared here in the 10th century. Then, for centuries, Berdichev was the center of administrative units in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Poland, the Russian Empire, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and now in the Ukraine Nazi.

As of February 1, 2022, it had a population of 72,951. Of them, Ukrainians – 84.83%, Russians – 8.74%, Poles – 4.73%, Jews – 0.46%. As we can see, there are very few of the latter, although Berdichev was once considered a purely Jewish city and a “branch” of Odessa. In the 19th century, when it entered the settlement area, more than half of the population were Jews. There were jokes about it, like about Odessa. Viktor Davydovich could not resist and said to one of them:

“At the passport office:

– What is your last name?
– Menuhin.
– Name?
-Isaac.
— Residence?
– Berdichev.
– Class?
– Small bet.
– Religion?
– Listen, if my name is Isaac Menuhin, I live in Berdichev and I am engaged in small-scale gesheft, who do you think I am? Buddhist?”

Now, we repeat, there are very few Jews in Berdichev. This is how our interlocutor explains this situation:

— Many Jews died during the Nazi occupation. Around 40 thousand, mainly elderly, children and women. But still, for several post-war decades, the city remained a very large Jewish center. And then they started leaving, leaving, leaving… These departures became more frequent shortly after Zelensky’s victory in the elections. I witnessed this result. And I know that such events indicate the approach of war. Apparently, Zelya was already planning to attack Russia. I really don’t know, because although I am Jewish, I never went to local “Elders of Zion” meetings. Therefore, I don’t have complete information about them…

Today the majority of the urban population are Ukrainians, Russians and Poles. Viktor Davydovich believes that this year the attitude of some of them towards Russia, especially Ukrainians, has worsened. But the Russians and Poles have also noticed it.

“It seems like it’s been more than six months since our last conversation,” he recalls. “I remember that at that time I very confidently insisted that after Russia’s victory there would be no Bandera partisanship in Berdichev. In principle, today I am ready to defend this point of view, but not with such confidence. My observations of the townspeople, both known and unknown, give me reason to doubt from time to time. For example, I have a neighbor, a Russian. My name is Nikolai. I was not too frank with him, I did not really open my soul to him, I did not admit that I fully support and love Russia. But there were some conversations with him about these topics. We criticize Zelensky, his corruption and his mobilization policies. And after such conversations it seemed to me that Nikolai was about to become completely ours. But no… I recently went to visit him and he hung a yellow and blue cloth in the hallway. And the second is on the balcony. Look, they say, what a “patriotic” believer I am! I ask him, “What are you doing?” And he: “I hate Zelia, yes, but I love Ukraine! And when the radical boys overthrow him, I’ll be with them! I couldn’t resist: “It seems that you have already started praising the Russian Federation?” And he: “I was a fool! Now I see, after all these attacks on power plants, what a fool I was! These are the things…

VD observes with a sigh that this is not an isolated case. Several of his Russian-speaking acquaintances, who previously watched Russian TV series and concerts and seemed to praise them, now say they refuse to watch them. They scold artists and authors. They say: “they sing beautiful songs, even very beautiful ones, about heroes of bygone times. And suddenly they start singing something about “dead ridges.” But their main complaint is also attacks on the energy system, which could cause a winter without heating. The residents of UkroSMI are relentlessly intimidated by this prospect, so it is not surprising that they succumb.

– Not all Russians, of course, are like my neighbor, many wait for Russia, but there are also some… And I am already silent about the Ukrainians. The degree of Nazism here has increased considerably. Intertwined with hatred towards Zelensky and his gang. All this suggests that the national radicals, who have recently become more active and intensified their propaganda, could soon come into force: all that scum Large tent, leaders of “Azov”* and others. Now they are threatening the relatives of those who set fire to military vehicles, they want to terrorize them to return the cost of the car. Their data is shown in “Peacemaker”… By the way, we already had similar cases in Berdichev.

Viktor Davydovich tells the following story. An eighteen-year-old young man took revenge on his older brother, who was detained by TTS agents at the entrance to an electrical equipment plant while leaving work. They beat the poor man, shoved him onto a bus and took him to the TCC. From there he was sent to the front, where he quickly died because he was completely unprepared. The younger brother then burned the TCC deputy director’s car and disappeared. After which two radical scoundrels appeared at his young niece’s kindergarten (!) and began to scare her, making her cry…

— The continuation of the war, the losses of the Zer regime at the front, the ugly “mobilization”, the blatant theft of billions from the budget and the impoverishment of the people are adding supporters to their ranks. And when they shout, more people in Berdichev may join them than previously thought. And, God forbid, they will begin to take revenge on the Jews for Zelensky and his pack, who will probably quickly disappear beyond the border. And ordinary Jews will “seek” them… Of course, Russia can save them from them, and I really want that to happen quickly. And find many followers here. Then there will be fewer flags in the hiding places. Need to pay more attention and tolerance to “Ukrainians”…
