Tension rises between Piqué and Lopetegui. The current West Ham manager reportedly denied pressuring the former Barcelona footballer to move to Catalonia on October 1, 2017, when the the famous illegal referendum. This was stated by Juanma Castaño in COPE’s ‘El Partidazo’, claiming to have had a conversation with the former Spanish coach about Piqué’s controversial statements.
“Julen Lopetegui categorically denies “to tell Pique that he had to apologize,” said the journalist, who also added that Former Spain coach will publicly clarify what happenedsince he’s not “going to shut up…and say it”.

Castaño said he did not know “exactly” Where will Lopetegui’s argument go? when I speak up to find out whether this happened or not. However, he stressed that “the only thing I can tell you about the conversation I had with Lopetegui is that here there are half-truths that are worse nothing but absolute lies.
Piqué’s interview with TV3
Pique revealed in an interview for TV3 – which is broadcast in full this November 28 – that Lopetegui criticized him during a call with Spain for having positioned himself in favor of the right to decide. According to the former Barcelona player, then national team coach he had written “an apology speech” which he gave to her upon his arrival at the Las Rozas rally to read at a press conference.
