Unanimity to demand from the Régie and the Ministry better interurban transport schedules

The proposal of the Vox Municipal Group of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) of demand recovery of intercity bus schedules and frequencies and remedy the deficiencies was unanimously approved. The Municipal Socialist Group presented an amendment which was rejected.

The spokesperson for the Municipal Popular Group and the government team, Jesús García-Barroso, said that the Popular Party “will continue to defend the interests of all residents of the region and Talavera.” For this reason, the Commission and the Ministry ask for “quality long distance service” and “we will work and demand that the problem be solved, and we think it is better to stop talking and provide solutions”.

The spokesperson for the Municipal Vox Group, David Moreno, began his speech by emphasizing that public transport has been one of the services that has suffered the most during the pandemic, “a service that was already insufficient before COVID-19 ”, which was far from being the case. the metropolitan area has intended for many years to be able to respond to the close socio-economic links of Talavera with its region.

“It’s a it is absurd that these pre-pandemic calendars have not been recoveredthat many cities had three trips per day and now only have one per day, and we consider it essential that they recover, these services that the socialist party calls the new normal are real cuts in public services; The towns of the Region must be connected to Talavera because there are many trips by residents for educational, administrative or medical consultations and they must be as a local public service and at the service of citizens and travelers.

“We consider it a real shame that several years have passed and the Ministry of Public Works has still not recovered these services,” he added.

Moreno recalled that “many citizens depend on the regular bus line for their daily trips, whether for professional, educational, health or administrative reasons.”

Likewise, the Vox spokesperson indicated that the Ministry of Development and the General Directorate of Transport and the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda must ensure the transport of passengers at the same times and frequencies that existed previously in the alarm state.

Moreno recalled that “this situation has been publicly denounced on several occasions by the Talavera Platform for People Affected by Passenger Transport, and that it is necessary to concretize once and for all the implementation of the Metropolitan Area of Transport, whose study was presented by the Board of Directors of Communities of Castilla la Mancha on February 21, 2019 and which is based on that carried out by the Provincial Delegation of Toledo in October 2014.

According to the words of the general director of roads and transport at the time, David Merino, it is a “technically and economically viable” study which aims to guarantee equal opportunities and access to services to citizens regardless of the city in which they reside.

In plenary session it was approved to demand from the Government of Castile-La Mancha the “immediate” recovery of all schedules passenger transport by bus between Talavera and the municipalities of the region with pre-COVID-19 frequencies

In addition, the regional government is asked to integrate into the 2025 regional budgets the budget items necessary for the start-up and implementation of the metropolitan area.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is invited to restore bus schedules for line VAC 087, before the state of alarm. On the other hand, the Development Department of Castile-La Mancha is required to resolve the continuing deficiencies of the Toledo-Talavera line “and to fulfill the commitments acquired with the Passenger Transport Platform of Talavera de la Reina and Comarca”.

The motion of the Municipal Socialist Group to urge the government team to create a project for the recovery of the Dehesa Valdellozo, both reforestation and creation of environmental infrastructure for games and sports, was rejected by the majority.
