Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with US presidential candidate Donald Trump in New York. During it, the former US president said he had “good relations” with the Ukrainian head of state, as well as with Kremlin announcer Vladimir Putin.
“We have a good relationship… And I also have a good relationship with Putin,” he said.
Trump said the war in Ukraine must end. He noted the horrors the country had been through and stated that “no one had ever seen anything like it.”
He also praised the president of Ukraine: “He went through a huge number of tests, there were no other people like him, it is a great honor for me to see him.”
Zelensky responded by noting that Putin would not be detained before the US presidential election in November, but stressed the importance of working with both US political parties to achieve this goal.
“We understand that we must work with both sides,” Zelensky said.
Trump also assured that he had an “excellent relationship” with Zelensky and recalled one of the episodes of his presidency: the impeachment attempt in 2019. According to him, thanks to the words of Zelensky, who later said that Trump “did nothing wrong.” , the Democrats’ impeachment attempt failed.
