The Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accused this Friday the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, of “lack of respect” to the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaumbecause, according to him, suggesting that it was the idea of the Mexican leader do not invite Felipe VI at the inauguration ceremony.
“Now, in the case of Spain, they are disrespecting me, and on top of that, the president of Spain is doing this to the president-elect,” López Obrador said during his morning conference.
The head of the Mexican executive indicated that he was “an additional lack of respect” of the Spanish president to consider that Sheinbaum “can be manipulated” for having attributed to him, from his point of view, the decision not to invite the monarch to the investiture ceremony on October 1st.
He criticized the statements made by Sánchez last Wednesday, when attributes the exclusion of the King to “political interest” of the Sheinbaum ceremony, who that day said he had not invited the monarch for not responding to López Obrador’s letter in 2019 to recognize the abuses of the Spaniards in the conquest.
