Israeli fighters were launched this Friday a series of airstrikes against the southern suburbs of Beirut of unprecedented intensity in a year of conflict, while the Israeli army claims to have reached the headquarters of the Shiite group Hezbollah. Loud explosions echoed throughout the capital and neighboring towns and huge columns of smoke could be seen rising from the area at great distances, something that had not happened with any of the six bomb attacks carried out against the area since the start of the clashes.
For its part, the Israeli army announced in a statement that its forces had carried out a “precise” attack against Hezbollah headquarterslocated under residential buildings in Beirut, according to their version. The bombings targeted Dahye, a southern suburb of the city and an important stronghold of the political and armed movement.
This is the sixth attack on the area since the crossfire between the sides began on October 8, 2023 and the fourth in just one week. Last Friday, More than fifty people died in Israeli bombing which caused the collapse of two buildings in Dahye, where in the following days three other actions against senior Hezbollah commanders also took place, one of which was unsuccessful.
The last one occurred yesterday and killed the commander of its air unit, Muhamad Hosein Sarur, as well as at least one other person.
