New problems in 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid. The MATS union, Movement Assembly of Health Workers, denounces that several installations in the new kitchens inaugurated on November 16 are not working properly. According to the aforementioned union, the washing trains do not work, employees work in areas which are at low temperatures, Water stagnates on the ground and machines break down.

From the Madrid Ministry they indicate that the car wash problem was resolved in one day, which urgently acquired and provided thermal clothing to workers and that all installations are now functioning normally. MATS denies this information.

“We are aware that everything is difficult at the beginning, but the start has been chaotic. The new washing trains are constantly breaking down and in the end, workers have to do by hand the work that a machine should do. We have We have communicated this to those responsible, but they insist that maintenance is not their responsibility,” they say from MATS. Health sources explain that the problem with the washing train “this was resolved the same day”, it happened.

On the other hand, unionists denounce another serious problem: in certain areas of the kitchen, employees have to work in areas between 5 and 11 degrees temperature to preserve food: “The only thing that was provided to colleagues working in these conditions was a single fleece liner.”

Sources from the Ministry of Health indicate Madrid Total that thermal clothing and fleece linings were urgently purchased for all staff and they also point out that last weekend “a specific problem” has occurred with the temperature that has already been solved.

But according to MATS, the problem of low temperatures goes further: “The ground fills with water which remains stagnant because the drain is slightly raised. “That’s why some classmates get their feet wet and have to go change.”

And as a final problem, the union denounces that in the new kitchen there is a machine to “wrap the cutlery” but as “there is no paper”, they have to do it by hand, which means a waste of time for employees.

Therefore, the The Movement of the Assembly of Health Workers calls for “more organization” and that “all the problems” of the new kitchens of October 12 are resolved, above all with the “well-being of all patients” in mind. The Ministry of Health insists that everything is now “working normally” to resolve this new clash between unions and administrations.
