The Groupe Renault Spain Foundation shows employees and young people that we can “drive without barriers”

The Groupe Renault Spain Foundation made training a reality throughout 2004 to 8,000 employees and young people in road safety and road accident prevention, particularly from a young age, as a sign of its commitment to sustainable, equitable, connected and safe future mobility.

In accordance with this same objective in terms of road safety, the Groupe Renault Spain Foundation supports the social project “Pilot without barriers”, initiative of the Alicante pilot Lydia Sempere, which travels throughout Spain to explain to children and adults the positive impact of sport on the integration of people with disabilities, linking this activity to a day of karting.

Lydia was born deaf, and at the age of two she underwent surgery to have a “bilateral cochlear implant” in her left ear. She is the only woman in the Clio Cup Spain and has headphones adapted to her hearing aids, with which she can run while listening to the engine and its ups and downs.

Thanks to this collaboration, more than 70 people, employees of the Renault group accompanied by their children, took advantage of a day during which Lydia addressed different subjects ranging from how her disability with profound deafness forces her to drive with cochlear implants to the issue of equality and inclusion. which may appear at school. Of course, the little ones enjoyed riding the karts and received basic safety information from the driver.

Eliminate barriers, develop inclusive mobility and promote gender equality both in the world of competition and in the world of educational broadcasting led the Groupe Renault Foundation to support Lydia Sempere for the fourth consecutive year.

“Lydia is an excellent ambassador for the Groupe Renault Spain Foundation, representing better than anyone the fight for inclusion and the importance of promoting equality. With days like today, we have experienced with more than 70 employees and their children a morning of inclusion, road safety and good driving that will help children contribute to generating safer driving in their environment”, said declared the director of the Groupe Renault Spain Foundation, Ignacio Rodríguez-Solano, in a press release.
