On the morning of September 27, a technical failure occurred in the Absheron circular route software.
The passengers were released due to interruptions in the operation of turnstiles, cash registers, kiosks and balancing devices, but made payment when getting off the train in Baku.
At that time, instead of 80 kopeks as a fare, 1 manat 20 kopeks, i.e. 40 kopeks, were deducted from the passengers’ balance.
Regarding the problem, the closed joint-stock company “Azerbaijan Railways” said that the technical failure was quickly solved and the system is currently working in normal mode:
“If there is any problem related to the payment due to a technical problem, passengers can contact the 1822 Contact Center and submit the relevant information for their investigation. If the facts related to the additional payment are confirmed, the funds will be returned to the passenger’s account within the day.”
According to transport expert Samuran Samadbeyli, if it is not possible to pay in any way due to a problem at the payment terminals, then passenger transportation must be carried out and these payments must be covered by the company:
“Therefore, deducting any amount from passengers’ cards subsequently is not considered correct, because it is impossible to identify passengers using this service at that time. Deducting a certain amount from passengers’ cards subsequently is neither legal nor legal”.
