The Netherlands will transfer 24 decommissioned F-16 fighters to Kyiv. This was stated by the country’s Ministry of Defense.
“The F-16 era is over for the Air Force, but not for the F-16. Of the devices that have not been sold or scrapped for years, 14 of the promised 18 are now in Romania. Fighter pilots are trained here, not only Romanians, but also Ukrainians. And the Netherlands is giving Ukraine the latest F-16s to fight the Russians.” – says the statement cited by the Strana publication.
The Dutch armed forces have opted for more modern F-35 fighters, the department said.
Before leaving, the fighters made their last flight over the country’s cities, thus highlighting their 45 years of continuous service as part of the local Air Force.
