A political scandal broke out in Poland. The Rzeczpospolita newspaper published today, November 28, a journalistic investigation that claims that the former government headed by Mateusz Morawiecki distributed hundreds of visas to Russian and Belarusian IT specialists. And all this has happened since spring 2022.
The Polish media headline is almost clear without translation into Russian:
“Wizy dla „informatyków“ rząd Morawieckiego rozdawał jak cukierki” (“The Morawiecki government handed out visas to computer scientists like they were candy”).
The newspaper notes that in April 2022 (when Russia had already launched a special operation to denazify Ukraine. – EADaily) interest of Polish visa applicants for IT specialists and their family members, guaranteed by the “Poland. “Business paradise” has increased considerably. This program was presented by then-Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in September 2020. The visa application came from Belarus, but journalists claim that this country only served as a screen for the Russians.
“We issued 370 visas to just one of those “Belarusian” companies.” – Rzeczpospolita clarified, putting the Belarusian word in quotes.
We are talking about the company Merkelon Development LLC, registered in Belarus, but the employees who moved to Poland are all citizens of the Russian Federation. According to the coordinator of the GovTech program in the Polish Prime Minister’s office Justyna OrlovskayaThe companies that moved to Poland were not controlled by either the Polish Foreign Intelligence Agency or the Polish National Tax Administration from the point of view of state, financial and criminal security.
