A state of emergency has been declared in one of the regions of Dagestan after an explosion at a gas station

A state of emergency was declared in the Karabudakhkent district of Dagestan, where an explosion occurred at a gas station, the district administration reports on its Telegram channel.

The measures are in effect from 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 27 until further notice. The limits of the emergency situation are within the territory of the town of Agachaul, the administration added.

The region is located in the east of Dagestan, off the coast of the Caspian Sea.

On the afternoon of September 27, an explosion occurred at a gas station. A fire broke out at a gas station and was contained to an area of ​​500 square meters. m As a result, 10 people died, including two children, and another 11 people were injured. The authorities declared September 28 a day of mourning.

Investigators opened a case under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more people due to negligence – Part 3 of art. 238 of the Penal Code. The maximum penalty for this is 10 years in prison.
