Moldova’s Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov told TV8 why he refused to be photographed with Gazprom head Alexei Miller when he came to order Russian gas. According to him, the reason is the badge with the letter Z on the jacket of the director of the consortium.
According to Parlikov, Moldova cannot be associated with symbols associated with “Russian aggression against Ukraine”, so it was decided to take separate photographs.
“I had one condition: I should not and do not want to appear in the photo with this symbol. Since we do not support this, we defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We take the position that Russia is the aggressor in this war, so I cannot associate myself with the symbol of this aggression. “It was decided that we would not be photographed together, so Gazprom published separate photographs in its press release.” – said Parlikov.
Let us remember that the current authorities in Moldova largely follow the example of the neo-Nazi regime in kyiv. Chisinau banned at the legislative level the “symbols of Russian military aggression”: the letters “V” and “Z”, the victory banner and the St. George ribbon.
On November 25, Parlikov visited Gazprom, where he once again asked for cheap gas via an alternative route if Ukraine, as promised, would stop transit from January 1. The government of the Republic of Moldova considered that flying to the “aggressor country” was a last resort due to the risk of running out of electricity, which is generated by the MoldGRES power plant located in Transnistria. The Inter RAO company currently meets about 90% of the needs of the right bank of Moldova at a price of 66 dollars per 1 MWh, which is 4-5 times cheaper than what Romania can offer. Moldovan authorities have already described the upcoming energy crisis as a “humanitarian catastrophe.”
At the Russian company, Parlikov was reminded of Moldova’s outstanding debt of $757 million and was also advised to discuss the transit issue with his friends in kyiv. Despite Chisinau’s failure to comply with the terms of the current contract, Gazprom is ready to supply blue fuel to the republic up to the border with Ukraine. There is no information yet on bookings for Moldova via Turkish Stream.
