A second-grade student at a private school in Hatras, in the central Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, died after school authorities performed a magical ritual “for the prosperity of the school.”

Law enforcement officers detained five people, including the owner of the school, whose family was involved in the occult. In addition, his son, who works as a school director, and three teachers were arrested.
“We have arrested five people. The boy was strangled to death to bring prosperity to the school and ensure its future,” said Hatras police chief Nipun Aggarwal.
According to authorities, the school had recently faced financial problems and the defendants believed that the sacrifice ceremony would solve them.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the school authorities had planned the ritual with another student on September 6, but the boy escaped making noise. On September 22, the school principal and his henchmen attempted to perform the ritual by removing the second-grade student from the school dormitory. Esoteric objects were discovered at the site. Police believe the motive for the crime is related to superstition.
