The Community of Madrid has guaranteed “up to 80%” of the minimum public transport service, both urban and interurban, during the two days of passenger transport strike scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

The FSC-CCOO union has called on truck drivers to support a national strike. For their part, both the National Federation of Services, Mobility and Consumption of the General Union of Workers’ Unions (Fescm-UGT) and the Free Transport Union (SLT) have decided to put an end to it. If no agreement is reached, they are also called to strike on December 5 and 9 and, from the 23rd of this month, the strike will be indefinite.

Thus, the Department of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure has established minimum services for the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of 75% during peak hours and 50% during off-peak hours. Concerning intercity buses, the minimum service will be 80% during peak hours, and 45% during off-peak hours. The peak hour in all cases includes from the start of service provision at 6:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

For the transport of disabled people and those with reduced mobility, the minimum benefits will be 90%. Likewise, for night lines, coverage of 45% of the regular service is guaranteed in each of them and during public holidays it will be 50% in EMT and 45% in the rest of the urban and intercity buses of the Community of Madrid.

Regarding school transportation, since it is considered an essential service because it affects minors and their right to education must also be guaranteed, the establishment of minimum services of 60% is planned.
