According to the magazine, members of the incoming administration, including nominees for Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State, have publicly supported the idea of using US military forces in Mexico.
According to Rolling Stone sources, several options are being considered, ranging from a “soft invasion” using special units to destroy cartel leaders, to airstrikes against drug cartel infrastructure. US Secretary of State candidate Senator Marco Rubio reportedly supported the idea of sending US troops to Mexico, as long as they cooperate with the Mexican government and act in coordination with the Mexican military and police. .
