From September 29 to October 14, Llucmajor will offer a wide variety of activities for all ages and tastes, which will be distributed in different parts of the municipality.

Question.- What does the celebration of the Fires mean for Llucmajor?

Answer.- The Fires of Llucmajor are one of the most deeply rooted traditions of our municipality. This year we are celebrating the 478th edition, which shows the historical and cultural importance they have for our community. They are much more than a festival, they are a reflection of our roots and the meeting point for thousands of neighbors and visitors. This is a unique opportunity to promote our heritage, revitalize the local economy and offer activities that are both traditional and innovative. Las Fires are a platform for Llucmajor to show his open and welcoming character.

Q.- Being your second year as mayor of Llucmajor, are you experiencing it differently?

A.- Without a doubt, I am entering this second year with more experience and with a better understanding of the impact of fires on our community. The enthusiasm and responsibility are the same, but I now have a clearer vision of how every detail, from organization to citizen participation, is crucial to the success of this great event. Seeing how the entire municipality gets involved, how the municipal council teams work together and how the neighbors get involved in the celebration fills me with pride.

Q.- What makes the Fires of Llucmajor so special?

A.- What makes Fires de Llucmajor unique is the perfect combination of tradition and modernity. We have events that have been maintained over the centuries, such as the Fira de Sant Miquel, which opens the celebration, but we have also been able to adapt to new times with events like the Frikijor, which attracts a young and diverse audience. In addition, the involvement of neighbors is essential. It is not just a program of activities, but a feeling of community that is felt in every corner of the municipality.

Q.- The first is the traditional Fira de Sant Miquel. What is its importance for Llucmajor?

A.- The Fira de Sant Miquel is the starting signal for our fires, as it represents the start of a series of celebrations that continue for several weeks. Sant Miquel is the patron saint of Llucmajor and every year we pay homage to him with traditional events like the Marxa cyclist his Piquetes del Pèlec and the dance of cotton cavallets. This first Fair is a moment of connection with our history and our roots.

Q.- The Fires of Llucmajor include varied and already consolidated themes such as Frikijor, Artesania i Oportunitats and the iconic Darrera Fira. What would you highlight about each of them?

A.- Each of these fires has its own character and appeal. The Frikijor Fair is an example of how we have been able to adapt to our times, by offering a space dedicated to pop culture and the geek world, which attracts young people and entire families. The Fira d’Artesania i Oportunitats is an opportunity to showcase local crafts and offer visitors unique products. And of course, the Darrera Fira, with its Mostra Llucmajorera, constitutes the grand finale, an event that brings together the entire community around our most cherished traditions.

Q.- The neighbors do everything they can for these fairs. Is popular participation essential for you?

A.- Without a doubt, popular participation is at the heart of the Fires. Neighbors not only attend, but also actively participate in the organization and development of events. This involvement makes the Fires not only a festival among others, but a reflection of the community spirit of Llucmajor. Each neighbor, each association and each local entity contributes its grain of sand and this is what really gives life to our fairs.

Q.- Tell us a little about the transversality of the Llucmajor Fires, taking into account the fact that in this 478th edition you ensure that practically all areas of the Town Hall participated.

A.- This year more than ever, transversality was essential in the organization of the Fires. Virtually every department in the city council played a fundamental role in ensuring that everything went smoothly. From Culture, which worked on the programming of events, to the Municipal Brigade, which is responsible for preparing the spaces. The Commerce, Environment, Security, Fire domain itself also participates… The collaboration between the domains has allowed us to offer a comprehensive program and improve logistics, ensuring that every detail is taken care of so that neighbors and visitors can benefit from it. to the maximum.

Q.- Why should Majorcans and other visitors go to the Fires of Llucmajor this fall?

A.- The Fires of Llucmajor are an experience that everyone should have. We offer a varied and complete program, with activities for all ages and tastes. From centuries-old traditions to modern and surprising events, there is something for everyone. In addition, it is an opportunity to get to know Llucmajor’s hospitality, its rich history and its vibrant culture up close.
