The Junta de Castilla y León highlighted the “Silver Economy” as “an opportunity for the present with a vocation for the future”, due to the process of aging of the population. “The Régie is committed to a sector that encompasses all the needs of elderly people and people in dependent situationswhich starts from care and deepens activities related to active and healthy aging”, declared the Vice-President of the Council and Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Isabel Blanco.
In this sense, he considered that it is a “dynamic, sustainable and innovative economic alternative” in which “the promotion of entrepreneurship and job creation in rural areas” converge. In addition, he collected the estimate of the European Commission, according to which the “Silver Economy” “In 2025, it will reach 32 percent of the European Union’s GDP and will generate 88 million jobs.
Blanco made these statements at the Ramos Carrión Theater, in the capital of Zamora, before inaugurating the VI Congress of the “Silver Economy”, which will be held until November 30and during which there will be more than 60 presentations from prestigious international experts.
He also highlighted the need to “take advantage” of the potential of older people, “from a tourist and economic point of view, to generate income themselves within the social fabric, the economic fabric of the province and, in this case, of the Community”.
For his part, the president of the Provincial Delegation of Zamora, Javier Faúndez, highlighted the registration figures for the Congress with a “record participation”, since there are more than 2,000 registered. “This exceeds that of last year and, also, with streaming forecasts of some 20,000 people who will follow this congress from different places around the world. We were surprised by the participation of countries from Europe and South America who will follow this congress live, and by the presence of important universities,” he underlined, reports Ical.
“If this congress is a national and international reference, it is because of the organizational capacity that the institutions have, the Junta de Castilla y León, the Provincial Council, because of the collaboration of many companies in the province and, above all, , because of the quality of the speakers. that, year after year, we bring so that Zamora is the epicenter where technological advances are put on the table in more than 60 presentations”, he concluded.
