The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the assassination of the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, and called on Israel to cease hostilities.
The corresponding statement was published on Saturday, September 28, by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
“We strongly condemn another political assassination committed by Israel. “This forceful action is fraught with even greater dramatic consequences for Lebanon and the entire Middle East.” – says the document.
He notes that the Israeli side was aware of this danger beforehand, but went ahead by killing Lebanese citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that this will inevitably provoke a new wave of violence, for which responsibility will fall on Tel Aviv.
“We again urge Israel to immediately cease hostilities. This would stop the bloodshed and create the conditions for a political and diplomatic agreement.” – stated the press service.
They stressed that “in the current explosive situation, responsible members of the world community must do everything in their power to prevent the region from descending into a large-scale armed confrontation.”
As reported EADailyLebanese Hezbollah previously confirmed that its leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. His daughter Zeinab died along with him.
