Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday urged Muslims around the world support the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, after the recent Israeli bombings against the suburbs of Beirutthis would have caused the death of the leader of the Lebanese movement Hassan Nasrallah, according to the Israeli army.
“It is obligatory for all Muslims we proudly support the people of Lebanon and Hezbollah with their resources and help it confront the usurping, cruel and evil regime (Israel),” urged Iran’s Supreme Leader in a statement posted on his website.
Khamenei reacted this way to the Israeli attacks this Friday against a residential building in the suburbs of Beirutwhere Hezbollah headquarters was located and where, according to the Israeli army, Nasrallah died. Hezbollah has not yet indicated the whereabouts of its leader, after the attacks which left at least six dead and 91 injured.
“The killing of defenseless people in Lebanon has once again been revealed to all the ferocity of the Zionist mad dog and demonstrated the short-sightedness and stupid policies of the leaders of the usurping regime (Israel),” the highest Iranian authority said.
Khamenei warned that the Lebanese people would “the aggressor and the evil enemy” repent and added that the fate of this region will be decided by the resistance forces led by Hezbollah. Iran, Israel’s staunch enemyleads the informal anti-Israeli alliance the Axis of Resistance, made up of Hezbollah, Palestinian Hamas and Yemen’s Houthis among others.
Tehran has supported these allied groups for almost a year of war in Gaza and accused Israel of committing “war crimes”. “The terrorist gang that runs the Zionist regime (Israel) has not learned the lessons of its year-long criminal war in Gaza and has failed to understand that the massacre of women, children and civilians cannot not affect the solid structure of the resistance and destroy it,” he said condemned.
